Biodiversity conservation NEAC 2010-2012

The context of biodiversity, "NEAC" -"National Environment Appraisal and Monitoring Committee." This committee acts as governmental or institutional body tasked with assessing and monitoring environmental impacts, including those related to biodiversity.

Under the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC), a one day workshop was organized at village Gandhuwa in Mohanpur block in Deoghar district in Jharkhand through which 65 participants came to know about the benefits of organic farming by Swami Radhakanta Nand Ji Maharaj. He told about different techniques of farming which benefitted the participants immensely. A distribution Pit was also provided in the village for demonstration purpose which helped villagers producing 10 ton vermin compost with combined efforts. The program was a success and all the participants agreed to produce vermin compost and they are now using it regularly in productions.

NEACs support to facilitate engagement with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and industry representatives, to ensure that biodiversity concerns are adequately addressed in decision-making processes. The team has been involved in capacity-building initiatives to enhance understanding of biodiversity issues among government officials, project proponents, and other stakeholders. This might include training programs, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities. With the support from NEACs, the program serve in an advisory capacity to government bodies responsible for biodiversity conservation. They could provide expert advice on matters such as protected area management, species conservation, and sustainable land use planning.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA):

The NEAC acts with us a responsible for reviewing EIAs submitted for development projects that may impact biodiversity. They would evaluate the potential environmental consequences of these projects, including effects on habitats, species, and ecosystems. Gram sathi enhances monitoring programs aimed at tracking changes in biodiversity over time. This could involve collecting data on species populations, habitat degradation, invasive species, and other relevant indicators. NEACs play a role in formulating policies and guidelines related to biodiversity conservation and management.
