Under the pilot project of Mukhya Mantri Tassar (Silk) Vikas Project of the Bihar Government, “Resham (Silk) Vikas Samiti” of 250 farmers has been formed by Gram Sathi. The Samiti comprises 22 members, 1 Resham Mitra and 2 Seed Worm Rearers. Such Samitis have been formed in 10 villages of Katoria and Chandan blocks of Banka district in Bihar for the purpose of strengthening of livelihood among the farmers. Plantation of Arjun/Aasan trees for rearing silk worms has been done on the barren lands of the farmers. In 2015-16, such plantation was done on the lands of 250 farmers. It is estimated that very soon that this will create big opportunity of silk production and marketing through which good prospects will open up for farmers and youth of the blocks through promotion of silk business.

The project receives funding and support from the Government of Bihar , to implement various interventions aimed at the development of the tasar silk industry in development of agri-allied sector. The project focuses on increasing the production of tasar silk through various means such as promoting scientific rearing practices, providing and ensuring adequate supply of host plants, and improving cocoon harvesting techniques. The objectives to support the livelihoods of local communities involved in tasar silk production. This could involve providing training and capacity-building programs for silk farmers and workers, especially in rural areas. 1450 hectar (2156 beneficiaries). The project include initiatives to improve infrastructure related to silk production, such as setting up storage units, and training centers for skill development. It is objectified to facilitate market access for tasar silk products by connecting silk producers with buyers and establishing marketing channels. Investing in research and development activities to improve tasar silk production techniques, develop new varieties, enhance silk quality, and address challenges faced by silk farmers could be part of the project. Sustain echonmically reliance of tasar silk production on forest resources, the project may include measures to ensure environmental sustainability, such as promoting sustainable harvesting practices, afforestation programs, and conservation of biodiversity.
