Gram Sathi

GRAM SATHI is a registered non-profit organization established on April 25, 2007, under the Indian Trust Act, 1882. We are committed to creating an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable society by empowering vulnerable and marginalized communities through education, livelihood promotion, financial inclusion, health awareness, skill development, and community-led initiatives.
Over the years, Gram Sathi has implemented various development initiatives across seven states — Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh — focusing on rural development, women empowerment, financial literacy, child protection, sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, youth leadership, and social inclusion.
Our approach is rooted in community participation, partnership, and equity, ensuring that communities are not only beneficiaries but active partners in the development process. We work closely with government institutions, financial institutions, corporates, foundations, and grassroots organizations to design and implement impactful programs addressing critical social challenges.
Through our dedicated efforts, Gram Sathi continues to create opportunities for vulnerable communities by promoting knowledge, skills, access to resources, and sustainable solutions that enable individuals and communities to achieve a better quality of life.
What We Do

Our Areas of Work

Gram Sathi works across multiple development sectors to create sustainable and inclusive solutions for vulnerable communities. Our programs focus on strengthening community institutions, improving access to opportunities, and enabling individuals to lead a dignified and empowered life.

1. Education and Financial Literacy

We promote access to quality education and financial awareness among underserved communities. Through financial literacy initiatives, we empower individuals, especially women and rural communities, with knowledge about banking services, savings, digital financial services, insurance, pensions, and government schemes to promote financial inclusion.

2. Livelihood Promotion and Women Empowerment

We support women and marginalized communities in developing sustainable livelihood opportunities through skill enhancement, entrepreneurship development, value chain strengthening, and market linkages. Our initiatives focus on building women-led enterprises and strengthening community institutions such as SHGs and producer groups.

3. Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Environment

Gram Sathi works towards promoting environmental sustainability through biodiversity conservation, climate-resilient practices, natural resource management, and community participation. We encourage sustainable approaches that balance livelihood needs with ecological preservation.

4. Youth Leadership and Good Governance

We engage and empower youth by developing leadership skills, promoting civic participation, and encouraging their involvement in community development processes. Our initiatives aim to build responsible young leaders who contribute towards inclusive growth and social change.

5. Rural Development

We work with rural communities to address development challenges by improving access to resources, strengthening local institutions, promoting government scheme convergence, and supporting community-led development initiatives.

6. Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Response

Gram Sathi supports vulnerable communities during emergencies through relief assistance, rehabilitation support, and disaster response interventions. We work towards restoring livelihoods and rebuilding community resilience during challenging situations.

7. Health and Hygiene Promotion

We create awareness on health, nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare practices among communities. Our programs focus on improving health-seeking behaviour, promoting sanitation practices, and increasing awareness about available healthcare services.

8. Skill Development and Capacity Building

We provide skill development opportunities and capacity-building support to youth, women, and community members to enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and leadership capabilities for improved economic opportunities.

9. Child and Disability Rights

We work towards protecting the rights and dignity of children and persons with disabilities by promoting awareness, access to services, inclusion, and protection mechanisms. Our initiatives focus on preventing child exploitation, ensuring child safety, and supporting vulnerable groups to access their rights.
